Review of Dim Sum Garden Philadelphia
Dim Sum Garden is one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located on Race Street in Chinatown, Dim Sum Garden holds the original recipe for Xiao Long Bao also known as soup dumplings. Soup dumplings are a Chinese dumpling typically with pork filling and… you guessed it… SOUP! I have been to a few other restaurants that have soup dumplings in the Maryland and DC area but nothing compares to Dim Sum Garden in Philly. Upon entering you will be greeted with a line that typically reaches the door. Do not fear! The line usually moves VERY fast. This location is bring your own beer so if you like to enjoy wine, cocktails, or any other type of alcoholic beverage with your meal be sure to bring it with you. Unlike typical Dim Sum eateries this one does not operate with an employee pushing around a cart. They give you a menu and you can choose from a variety of Asian food options including: rice, noodles, soups, dumplings, pork buns, and really any Asian dish you can think of. They even have a variety of delicious smoothies and bubble teas. I recommend getting a variety of dishes and drinks and sharing with your friends or family. The staff is very friendly, and service is extremely quick. You will definitely not be sitting around waiting for a long period of time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Chinese food…especially soup dumplings. I think if you are trying Dim Sum for the very first you should try Dim Sum Garden in Philadelphia, because the menu is very easy to understand and has descriptions of each item. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious!
